Ice Tree
Emotions are like ice. After a storm they stick to you and it can be difficult sometimes to see what is really part of you and what is the product of all those emotional attachments. Guess I'll have to wait until spring to thaw.

Happy Birthday

Awesome people do not just grow on trees. They must be carefully selected from the rest of the merely mediocre ones that you see everyday. When you're lucky enough to know three of them, then you have really got something. And when three of the awesomest people you know where all born on the same day? Well, it just boggles the mind.
Christine, Jess, and Ben: I hope you have a mind-bogglingly awesome birthday!

Happy December
Here's hoping that we finally get some snow. If I'm going to freeze my butt off, it should at least look like a Christmas card outside.

Leaves
This one is a bit depressing since it's fall and the leaves won't stick around much longer. But I love the texture of the leaves. I need to dig up my portfolio of all my old black and white prints. I miss working in the darkroom. I took this one at a farm outside of Iowa City during my Alt Break trip sophomore year. I can't believe that was 4 years ago.

Fall – with a chance of showers
It is about that time of year when the air starts to change from the stickiness of summer to the first bite of fall. The leaves start to turn colors and flutter down to make a carpet of golden flakes. It's the best time of year to go walking, because you hear that reassuring crunch, crunch, crunch every time you take a step. Making piles out of the leaves is even more fun! To me this picture epitomizes everything that I love about fall.
This is one of my all time favorite pictures from my first year at Grinnell.
